The central idea of Rich’s continuing Advent series came from his reflection on Zechariah’s song.  We read of Zechariah singing about God’s redemption and salvation of His people–ideas carried from the pictures given in Israel’s history and prophets.  What Zechariah may not have yet known was the expansive, personal work that God was about to do–the restoration of honor, dignity, and purpose in accord with and beyond the legal terms of His covenants.  Jesus’s redemptive work goes beyond the best that we could have imagined or hoped for.
